Imphal: The Border Security Force (BSF) in collaboration with the Marriott Group has launched Project Pranita in Manipur, flagging off at BSF Sector Headquarters, Koirengei, Imphal on Wednesday, and at the Gospel Centenary Hall in Churachandpur on Thursday.
The launch ceremony was attended by inspector general of BSF, Ravi Kant, and Sanjay Gupta, head of Marriott World Wide Business Council, along with dignitaries from civil administration, Central Armed Police Forces, and the Indian Army.
Forty-five selected girls from Meitei, Naga, and Kuki communities, along with their families, were present at the event.
Project Pranita is part of the broader Beti Bachao, Beti Padhao mission and is designed to provide comprehensive skill development and career opportunities in the hospitality sector. Under the initiative, the selected candidates will pursue a fully sponsored three-year Bachelor of Arts in Tourism Studies through IGNOU, while receiving hands-on training across various departments in 5-star Marriott Hotels throughout India, said an official statement.
The programme included specialization training, professional mentorship, and a suite of support benefits such as a monthly stipend ranging between Rs 10,000 and Rs 15,000, free uniforms, meals, accommodation, paid leave, health insurance, and assured job placement upon completion.
The selection of the 45 candidates, out of 70 applicants, was carried out through a transparent process facilitated by BSF units in Imphal and Churachandpur. The Force also played a critical role in community outreach, pre-training preparation, travel coordination, and documentation work, ensuring a smooth transition for the girls into the programme.
Speaking at the launch, officials emphasized that Project Pranita reflects BSF’s ongoing commitment to inclusive development and peace-building in the region.
By fostering economic independence and inter-community engagement, the project aims to build bridges and create sustainable livelihood opportunities for young women from all sections of society, the statement said.
The Marriott Group, which will oversee the training, welfare, and employment of the selected candidates, reiterated its commitment to social responsibility and inclusive growth through this unique partnership.
