Imphal: Manipur governor Ajay Kumar Bhalla, on Thursday, chaired a review meeting on the status of Sericulture in the state, at Raj Bhavan, here.
Sericulture director Robertson Asem, presented a detailed briefing on key topics, including the distribution and production of silk across the state, plantation activities, raw silk and seed organization, market linkages, and the overall condition of government-run sericulture farms.
The director briefed the bovernor on the progress of the Eri Spun Silk Mill currently under construction in the state, highlighting its potential to boost local silk production and employment.
Various government schemes and projects related to sericulture were also discussed, including Silk Samagra-2 and the Rashtriya Krishi Vikas Yojana.
After reviewing the data and ongoing initiatives, the governor emphasized the urgent need to scale up efforts in the sericulture sector. He directed officials to intensify implementation and monitoring, ensuring that the sector contributes more significantly to the state’s economy.
