Imphal: Staff of the Divisional Forest Officer, Chandel have so far till Wednesday installed 62 Plastic Bottle Tree Guards by the roadsides of Pallel-Chandel National Highway-102.
The plastic bottle tree guards installation along the highway began with the observation of Vanamahotsava on July 1.
The tree guard were installed to protect the tree saplings planted in connection with the Vanamahotsava observation. Thirty of them were installed on Wednesday.
Discarded water bottles which have been a menace to human society can be utilized to protect tree saplings as tree guards, said divisional Forest officer, Dr Munal Meitei.
Each tree guards was made with 206 wasted plastic water bottles.
