Imphal: On the observation of the World Youth Skill Day 2025 at St. Pauls Higher Secondary School, Liwa Changning in Chandel district, on Tuesday, Chandel divisional forest officer and environmentalist Dr N. Munal Meitei urged the youths for collective effort to safeguard nature and environment through Artificial Intelligence (AI) and digital skill.
The day was observed in presence of teachers and Forest staff. Around 1200 students participated in the observation presided by the school principal Father Benjamin. Munal was present as the chief guest of the function.
A discussion on this year’s theme of the youth Skill Day–“Youth empowerment through AI and Digital Skills” was conducted.
Earth is the only planet in this world that provides all requirements for human survival. It is important to ask how far human beings are attached to Mother Nature. Students and youths must answer this, Munal said.
Fifty percent of the total population of the nation are youths below 25 years of age. Youths, therefore, have a big role to play for the development of the country, he added.
Government of India initiated Skill India mission in 2014. However, Skill Index of the nation is 4.69 percent only, while that for Korea and Japan are 96 percent and 80 percent respectively, the senior forest officer said.
“Human beings have spoiled environment in the name of development. We need to design a system to together conserve nature and improve social wellbeing with development. For this, the role of AI is called for,” he added, urging the youths and people in the state to save the environment and the society from deterioration.
