Imphal: Security forces continued to conduct search operations and area domination in the fringe and vulnerable areas across districts, and recovered arms and ammunition in Kangpokpi district of Manipur on Tuesday.
Security forces apprehended four cadres of KCP (PWG) from different locations on the same day.
The recovered items in Kangpokpi were one 5.56mm INSAS rifle, one .303 rifle, five bolt action rifles, three single barrel rifles, two pull mech. rifles, six improvised mortars, one 36 hand-grenade, four 36 hand-grenade detonators, two 36 hand-grenade arming rings, three rubber bullets, ten 5.56mm INSAS live rounds, two tube launchers, one 2” mortar HE shells, thirty 7.62mm blank rounds, one 5.56mm INSAS rifle magazine, one 5.56mm INSAS LMG magazine and one hand held radio set with charger.
They were recovered from a stretch between Boljang and Pholjang villages under New Keithelmanbi police station, Kangpokpi district.
Two of the arrested cadres of KCP(PWG) were apprehended from Utlou area, Bishnupur district.
The duo was raising funds for the banned outfit by extorting money from general public and businessmen in Nambol area, said police.
They were identified as Laitonjam Ramakanta Meitei alis Bothe, 34, of Uyumpok Maning Leikai, Imphal East district and Thongam Herojit Singh, 38, of Tengdongyan Mayai Leikai, Imphal West district.
Laitonjam Ramakanta Meitei, a self-styled section commander of KCP(PWG), has more than 15 cadres working under him for the outfit. Efforts to arrest the remaining cadres are underway, police said.
One cadre of KCP(PWG) was apprehended from Moirang Okshongbung, Ward No. 11, Bishnupur district identified as, Thoudam Santosh Singh alias Henthoiba, 23, of Thoubal Leishangthem Thoudam Mamang Leikai.
The arrested cadre had collected large amount of extortion money from schools and colleges located in Thoubal district, said police.
Another cadre of KCP(PWG) was apprehended from Kekrupat, North AOC who was allegedly involved in extortion and threatening of general public, brick field owners and government employees. He was identified as Potshangbam Jeet Meetei alias Norjit, 55, of Khagempalli Panthak, Imphal West district.
