‘ZRA flag used in passing out parade of Assam Rifles’, Suitable action will be taken: Assam Rifles

Imphal: The Assam Rifles has asserted to investigate on the viral picture in which ‘young recruits pose with the flag of the Zomi Revolutionary Army (ZRA), a Chin-Kuki militant group led by former Myanmar MP Thanglianpao Guite, during a passing out parade’.

Meitei Heritage Society reacted that “The flag is of ZRA, the Militant Group headed by former Myanmar MP Thanglianpao Guite. This picture, all over social media, raises disturbing questions how the new recruits in Assam Rifles are using a Militant group flag in the passing out parade”.

“This should raise alarms bells among Security Agencies about the integrity of the recruits, partiality and implications on National Security.”

“The authenticity of the photograph is being verified. Based on confirmation suitable disciplinary action will be initiated against all defaulters,” the AR posted on X.

“Assam Rifles remains committed to maintaining ethos of the force,” it added.

A spokesperson of Meitei Heritage Society, said “We welcome the Assam Rifles’ decision to investigate the deeply troubling incident involving young recruits posing with the flag of the Zomi Revolutionary Army (ZRA), a Chin-Kuki militant group led by former Myanmar MP Thanglianpao Guite, during a passing out parade.”

“This incident raises serious concerns about the integrity of the recruits, the neutrality of the force, and its broader implications for national security.”

“Such ideology must be identified and nipped in the bud to preserve the integrity and impartiality of the Assam Rifles and all Indian security forces.”

“The Assam Rifles has already faced allegations from Meitei groups and retired officers of siding with Chin-Kuki militants amid the ongoing crisis. This act further reinforces that perception and undermines public trust.”
