Imphal: A total of 87 different types of weapons, various ammunitions/ munitions and other miscellaneous Items were voluntarily surrendered by the public to Manipur Police in Churachandpur, Imphal East, Bishnupur, Thoubal, Kangpokpi, Jiribarn and Imphal West districts on Tuesday.
The weapons were surrendered following an ultimatum served to youths to dispossess illegal weapons.
Manipur Police said search operations and area domination were conducted by security forces in the fringe and vulnerable areas of hill and valley districts.
During the search operations various weapons were recovered from Tengnoupal district.
Security forces also arrested two active cadres of KCP(PWG) from Ningthoukhong, Bishnupur district and recovered arms and ammunitions from their possession.
The arrested persons and recovered Items were handed over to BPR-PS for further necessary action, police said.
Security forces dismantled two Illegal bunkers at ThIngel Leikal at a farm, Thoubal district. One four wheeler without number plate and proper documents was recovered.
