Imphal: Demand Side Management Measures Implementation under “Capacity Building of DISCOMs (distribution companies)” under the aegis of Bureau of Energy Efficiency, ministry of Power, was launched on Tuesday.
The launching programme was organised by Manipur State Power Distribution Company Limited (MSPDCL) in collaboration with Green Tree Global Firm at the Hotel Imphal, North AOC.
With the increase in population, the demand for supply of power also increases simultaneously. Despite of various restriction, the requirement for the supply of power will always sustain, said Power minister Th. Biswajit Singh.
“To meet our requirements, we should adapt to new or sustainable techniques and equipments that will serve our purpose without affecting our eco system.”
The minister encouraged the general public to accustom with the usage of low power consuming electrical appliances and equipments. In order to implement and achieve this policy, ground level mass awareness campaigns, mostly in far flung areas, are the utmost requirement of this hour, he said.
In collaboration and with technical supports from the GreenTree Global Firm; various policies, projects and plannings are in the pipeline which will meet and benefit the larger population with positive impact, he added.
Power commissioner Dr. Shailesh Kumar Chourasia, said using of efficient equipments will surely help in decreasing the demands. Most of the distribution companies that are commercially viable should initiate the implementation of the policy.
Proper action plan and awareness programmes should be taken up in all government buildings as a pilot project. A proper conservation of power is required by habituating the usage of low power consumption appliances, he added.
The function was attended by N. Praveen Singh, director, MANIREDA and H. Shantikumar Singh, managing director, MSPDCL.
Dr. C.S Azad, representative of Green Tree firm, imparted the technical knowledge on the Implementation of identified DSM measures in Manipur, Strategy for implementation of DSM measures.
