Imphal: Additional director general of BSF, Eastern Command, Kolkata, Ravi Gandhi, made a two-day visit to Manipur to conduct a comprehensive review of the operational scenario and assess the BSF’s preparedness in the wake of the recent escalation of violence in the strife-torn state.
Upon his arrival at Imphal’s Bir Tikendrajit International Airport on Monday, the ADG was received by IG, BSF M&C Frontier, Sanjay Kumar Misra; DIG, SHQ BSF CI (Ops) Manipur, J.K. Birdi; and DIG (G), BSF M&C Frontier, Ahsan Shahedi.
During the visit, the ADG, accompanied by senior officers, inspected the 37th Battalion BSF THQ at IIIT College, Mayangkhang, Kangpokpi district, deployed along NH-02. He interacted with BSF officers and troops, encouraging them to continue their duties with utmost professionalism.
The ADG met with Manipur governor, the qchief secretary, and the chief adviser of Manipur.
He visited BSF units stationed at the hilltops of Uyokching and Twiching, the fringe areas of Kangpokpi and Imphal East, where he engaged with officers and troops. The ADG emphasized the significance of close coordination between the BSF and state authorities to maintain peace and security in the region. He lauded the BSF personnel for their dedication and professionalism.
The ADG and other officers traveled from Uyokching to PHQ Babupara, Imphal, where he held discussions with DGP Manipur, Rajiv Singh.
The visit continued with a stop at the DC office, Thoubal, where the ADG, along with senior officers, interacted with personnel from Ad-hoc M&C-XIV Bn BSF and subsequently visited the 3rd IRB camp in Thoubal district.
The ADG’s engagements with senior state officials and BSF troops highlight the critical role of coordination between the BSF and state authorities in ensuring stability in the region.
The ADG, Eastern Command, departed for Kolkata on Tuesday afternoon.
