Imphal: Security forces recovered 21.5 kg of Improvised Explosive Devices (IEDs) in Imphal East on Tuesday during an operation to restore peace and control violence in Manipur.

Five IEDs weighing approximately 21.5 kg, along with a 25-metre-long cordtex wire, were recovered and seized near the Korang bridge, Monglham, Imphal East district, said police.

The explosives, according to police, were discovered during a search operation and area domination in fringe and vulnerable areas of the hill and valley districts.

Another operation led to the recovery and seizure of one SMG carbine with one magazine, a country-made cannon (Pumpi), and ammunition from Phaileng, Kangpokpi district.
