Imphal: Manipur chief minister N. Biren Singh said the case of the killing of two workers, from Bihar in Manipur’s Kakching district on Saturday by unknown assailants, will be handed over to NIA if required.
Biren posted this on his X account on Sunday, a day after the two teenage migrant workers were allegedly shot dead by unidentified individuals around 5:20 pm while returning from their workplace to their rented accommodation.
“I strongly condemn the brutal killing of young brothers, Sunalal Kumar and Dasharat Kumar, from Bihar in Kakching district, Manipur. This act of terrorism is a direct assault on our values, and my deepest condolences go out to their grieving families.”
“In this crucial juncture, we cannot ignore the possibility that this horrific crime is part of a larger conspiracy to destabilize our state and push it further towards chaos. We must stand together against these destructive forces and ensure that they do not succeed in creating fear and insecurity.”
The chief minister announced an ex-gratia payment of Rs 10 lakh to each bereaved family.
He assured the public that every possible effort was underway to identify, apprehend, and prosecute those responsible for the killings. “
