Imphal: Manipur government has lifted its ban on data internet services after 23 days in nine districts of Manipur, w.

Commissioner (Home), Manipur, on Monday issued an order to resue internet services, ‘effective immediately’ in the Imphal West, Imphal East, Bishnupur, Thoubal, Kakching, Kangpokpi, Churachandpur, Jiribam, and Pherzawl districts.

The Home department appealed all internet users to refrain from any activities that may threaten public order and safety, which could lead to future suspensions of internet services.

The Manipur government had imposed the temporary suspension of mobile data and internet services, including VSATs and VPNs, as a precautionary measure to prevent the spread of rumors through social media. The internet service was banned in the nine districts after the discovery of six bodies, including three women, two minors, and a 10-month-old, which sparked violence.

The ban on broadband services was lifted on November 19.
