Imphal : The women’s wing of the Coordinating Committee on Manipur Integrity (Cocomi) issued a stern warning to the Army, specifically targeting the GOC 57 Mountain Division’s camp in Leimakhong, regarding the disappearance of Kamalbabu.

During a press briefing held at their office in Imphal, convenor Leirik Leima expressed deep concerns over the disappearance of Kamalbabu, who had been working within the Army cantonment.

She questioned the Army’s role in the incident, raising suspicions of a potential hidden agenda. Leirik Leima emphasized that the people of Manipur had placed their trust in the Leimakhong-based Army, which has been stationed in the region for decades.

However, she warned that if the Army were found to act in a biased manner, similar to allegations against the Assam Rifles, the people—especially the mothers of Manipur—would not tolerate such behavior.

She said, “If the authorities fail to ensure the safe return of Kamalbabu, people of Manipur would no longer permit the Army to remain in Leimakhong.”
