Imphal: The Coordinating Committee on Manipur’s Integrity (Cocomi) has declared a two-day total shutdown of all central and state government offices, beginning on Wednesday and boycott Union Home minister Amit Shah for ‘initiating Proxy War’ in Manipur.

The coordinating committee made its announcement on Tuesday during a press conference, here.

The decision of shutting down government offices was taken following the expiry of a one-week ultimatum issued to the state government after the recent NDA legislators’ meeting called by chief minister N. Biren Singh failed to address key concerns.

Cocomi had demanded repeal of AFSPA, to take action against Kuki militants for terrorising and other demands aimed at restoring peace in the region.

Its coordinator Thokchom Somerendro expressed frustration over the lack of resolution, stressing that the government had failed to amend the resolutions passed at the meeting.

He accused the Indian Government of orchestrating a Proxy war in Manipur, fueling the ongoing violence, and called for a complete boycott of Union Home minister Amit Shah in the state until the conflict ends. Somerendro appealed for public support for the agitation.

Essential services and educational institutions were exempted in the shutdown.

The Cocomi coordinator warned that further actions will be announced after the two-day shutdown if there is no positive response from the authorities.

In the midst the state government has announced indefinite closure of schools and colleges in the state.

Curfew remained relaxed from 5 am till 12 noon for the next day in valley districts.
