Imphal: An Assam Rifles personnel sustained bullet injury during a cross-fire with armed militants between Indo-Myanmar border pillars 85 and 86 on Friday.
The incident occurred around 9 am at a place near Kongkhanthana, Yaingoupokpi, in Kamjong district of Manipur.
The injured security personnel was identified as 45-year-old Bhoj Ram, son of Dinesh Bir Singh from Chhattisgarh. He was a member of the 3rd Assam Rifles. He was rushed to Shija Hospital, here.
The bullet entered through his neck and exited from the back. He is currently in critical condition and has been admitted to the Intensive Care Unit, said a hospital staff.
The specific militant group involved in the cross-fire was yet to be confirmed till the filing of this report.
