Imphal: Two individuals, including a female hostel resident, were injured in separate firing incidents on Wednesday night in Bishnupur and Imphal West districts.
The first incident occurred at approximately 12:10 am along the Ningthoukhong to ITI road, within the jurisdiction of Bishnupur police station.
The injured person has been identified as Khwairakpam Amarjit, 25, a resident of Thamnapokpi Mayai Leikai, Bishnupur district.
Police said Amarjit was shot by unidentified armed assailants, sustaining a bullet injury near his left collarbone. He was immediately rushed to the Regional Institute of Medical Sciences, here.
A case has been registered at Bishnupur police station. The motive behind the attack remained uncertain.
In the second incident, an 18-year-old hostel resident, identified as Sinam Lanchenbi, daughter of Sinam Romen, was injured by a stray bullet.
The incident occurred around 7:30 pm on Wednesday while she was staying at the Maheikol School Girls’ Hostel, Lamphel, Imphal.
A stray bullet struck Lanchenbi, injuring her lower hip. She was immediately rushed to RIMS Hospital and later transferred to Shija Hospital for further treatment, police said.
