Imphal: Manipur chief minister N. Biren Singh launched Chief Minister’s Coaching Scheme for Entrance Examination to Professional Courses at his Secretariat on Wednesday.

The launching programme was organised by Education (S) department.

The state government has launched various schemes and projects to help the students and safeguard the future generation by building infrastructures in education sector, under the supervision of Prime Minister Narendra Modi, Biren said.

An initiative was taken up by the government to help the civil service aspirants by providing scholarships for undergoing coaching classes for appearing civil services examinations.

Regarding the new scheme, Biren said the coaching classes will be conducted in online mode, which would be two-way interactive manner. Education (S) department will sponsor the full course fee for the selected students under the scheme.

The chief minister announced that the government would bear all the expenses for those students who have cracked the JEE or NEET in their further studies, he added.

A book on general knowledge of Manipur named “Know Manipur” will be published very soon to help equip the young minds with the general knowledge of Manipur, he said.

On the occasion, two Memoranda of Understanding were signed between the Government of Manipur and the two partnering coaching institutes for the said scheme. On behalf of Government of Manipur, director, Education (S) signed the MoU, while Dr. Sarvesh Chaubey, National Academics deputy director represented Aakash Educational Services Ltd and  Samir Kumar, National Head- Admissions represented FIIT JEE Ltd in signing the MoU.

The chief minister also distributed tablets to the selected 63 students, including 33 for NEET and 30 for JEE, so as to enable the students to attend the online classes comfortably.
