Imphal: All Manipur Contractors’ Association Forum (AMCAF) has urged the state government to clear the pending bills of all contractors before Ningol Chakouba festival.
Convenor of the All Manipur PWD Contractors Association, Th. Somarendra Meetei, in a statement released on Tuesday said, since May 3 last year, contractors have been facing various issues. Due to the ongoing crisis, many machines and materials have been destroyed, and, in addition, many workers have been killed.
Even so, contract workers continued with most of the construction works for the infrastructural development of Manipur, he said.
“The processing of CDA/bills for some contractors, supported by DO letters signed by MLAs and ministers, which were submitted two months ago, has been completed. However, no funds have yet been sanctioned.”
He alleged that officials are engaging in delay tactics to sanction bills.
Considering the upcoming Ningol Chakouba festival, chief minister N. Biren Singh announced that monthly salaries and pensions would be cleared in advance by October 31, he said.
He asked to clear the pending bills by on the same schedule, so that contractors can also celebrate Ningol Chakouba.
