Imphal: A man in black, wearing mask and a cap looted the UCO Bank branch at Kakching in Manipur on Wednesday.

A CCTV footage showed the masked man forcing an unarmed security guard and bank officials to guide him inside the bank on gunpoint.

Lamyanba Yumnam, manager of the bank branch said it was around 3 pm, the time of closing the bank business, a man came and asked for him.

The miscreant took the bank guard on gun point to the branch manager’s cabin and called the staff one by one along with 2/3 customers. He collected all the personal phones and warned against informing the police. He was speaking in Hindi only. He asked for the cashier and took him on gun point at the cash counter and took the money which is a sum of Rs 6, 49, 920, the manager said.

The robber was quick and took about 10 minutes to complete his task, he added.

A police team, led by the additional superintendent of police of Kakching district, rushed to the bank and conducted an investigation to apprehend the armed miscreants.

This is the seventh bank robbery-related case reported in Manipur, since the day the Manipur Crisis began.

Police said investigation was going on to apprehend those involved in the incident.
