Imphal: Manipur PCC on Wednesday ‘strongly’ condemned the remarks made by Army Chief that there was no evidence of drone bombing and rocket missile attacks in Manipur as alleged by sections of the society concerning Kuki attacks to Meitei villages.

Manipur Pardesh Congress Committee president K. Meghachandra said, “It is really unfortunate and we condemn the statement because there have been physical evidences of drone bombing and rocket missile attacks. The state Home department has stated that the there have been use of hi tech drone bombarding.”

He said official orders have been made on this and the statement of army chief is contradictory.

On the issue of holding of two Meitei youths as hostage by Kuki militants in Kangpokpi district, Meghachandra said, “It is total failure of law and order situation.”

He said Congress legislators had a joint meeting with the CM and other legislators, where the CM was urged to take assistance of Home minister Amit Shah to rescue the two youths.”

“We are confused why the state government is unable to rescue the two youths and why the state Home department remains helpless for the people. Why the DGP has been sent to another district instead of asking his forces to act? The visit to Kangpokpi shows his weakness.”

Former chief minister Okram Ibobi Singh called to disarm both the two sides involved in the conflict to stop the violence.

The statements of the Congress leaders were made on the sideline of the Gandhi Jayanti observation at Congress Bhavan, here on Wednesday.
