28.5 Kg IEDs recovered in Manipur’s Imphal East

Imphal: Amid the violent crisis prevalent of using sophisticated weapons in Manipur, Indian Army and Manipur Police recovered explosives weighing around 28.5 kg near a hill area at Bongjang and Itham in the Imphal East district on Thursday.

The Indian Army said the recovery was made acting on a specific intelligence with the help of Army Explosives Detection Dogs.

The recovered improvised explosive devices (IEDs) were diffused by experts from the Indian Army engineers. “This recovery has prevented a major disaster and saved the precious lives of innocent civilians.”

This is the second major haul of IEDs for the security forces in the past three months. On July 20, eight IEDs weighing 33 kg were recovered from the hilly areas of Saichang Itham, Imphal East, and neutralised by the bomb disposal team of the Indian Army, a statement by the Indian Army said on Thursday.

“The swift response of the Indian Army, in coordination with the Manipur Police, has once again demonstrated seamless cooperation among the security forces, ensuring the safety and security of the region while sending a strong message to anti-national elements.”
