Security forces in high alert, deploy Anti-Drone system

Imphal: Following the recent attacks by Kuki terrorists in Manipur valley using sophisticated weapons and drone bombs killing and injuring people in different incidents, state police and security forces have taken up several actions to prevent and defend from terror attacks.

Senior officers are on the ground and closely monitoring the security situations, a press release said on Saturday.

Anti-Drone System has been deployed to repel the Rogue Drones, it said.

Surveillance and patrolling by Army Chopper, deployment of additional forces in vulnerable fringe areas and in sensitive locations, deployment of sophisticated arms to repel armed miscreants and long range weapons, social media monitoring cell to check instigators of violence, conducting combing operations in suspected areas in the hills and valley to prevent long range rocket attacks, and exercising strong combined NAKAS in sensitive areas in Imphal, valley and in hills to prevent movement of armed miscreants were measures taken up by the security forces.

State government is analysing the recent attacks for strengthening its manpower with sophisticated weapons and updated Anti Drone System, the release said.

State police also monitoring the investigation closely and checking the crimes committed under schedule acts for transfer of sensitive cases to central agencies, it added.

State police appealed to public to cooperate with security force in maintenance of law and order in the state and cautioned that any miscreants try to interfere or loot arms from security will be dealt seriously as per law.

AR has deployed a few anti-drone systems in the State at fringe areas to repel any rogue drones. CRPF has also tested one anti-drone system and given it to the force deployed in the state. Some more anti-drone guns are being brought to the State by CRPF shortly, said Manipur Police Control Room.

The state police has also started the process for procurement of anti-drone system to enhance its security measures and tackle threats from drones effectively, it added.
