Imphal: Manipur chief minister N. Biren Singh met with the members of the JAC formed on the killing of a women in the Sunday attack by Kuki-Zo terrorists at Koutruk in Imphal West district.

“Had a meeting with the members of the Joint Action Committee (JAC) formed in response to the tragic and brutal killing of (L) Ngangbam Surbala Devi by the Kuki militants at Koutruk,” Biren posted on his facebook wall on Wednesday.

“The grief and frustration felt by the community are deeply understood, and the Government is committed to taking necessary steps to address these issues promptly and effectively.”

In wake of the deteriorating law and order situation in Manipur, ‘Manipur Police department has purchased few 7.62mm MMG MK 2A1 from Ordnance Factory Jabalpur’, a source said.

The MMG’s have already been collected and has reached the state, it added.

The development came after terrorists started attacking people and security forces in Manipur valley.

As Manipur Police does not have any trained manpower on the weapon, Manipur Police on Wednesday requested Troops of 57″ Mountain Division to train state police personnel at Manipur Police Training College, Pangei, the source said.

A training schedule of 21days has been proposed starting from September 9, it added.
