Imphal: Unknown miscreants attacked with bombs at three different residences of Salai Group (a private company) board members in Imphal, two failed to explode, no human casualty was reported in the single blast that occurred on Sunday.
The private company has been shut down for allegedly running a Ponzi or money-circulating scheme, and the CBI launched an inquiry into the Ponzi scheme against its founder, Narengbam Samarjit, in 2019. Thousands of people have reportedly fallen victim to the scheme.
Police said the blast incident occurred at around 11:05 pm at the residence of Deepa Anand Akoijam, 45, of Kwakeithel Akham Leikai, Imphal. The bomb hurled by the miscreants exploded near Anand’s gate. However, no human casualty was reported, although some property was damaged.
Police also reported that unknown miscreants hurled two bombs each at the residences of Yumlembam Bojendro Singh of Lalambung Takhellambam Leikai, Imphal, and Mayengbam Tolenjao Mangang of Lamboikhongnangkhong Veterinary Leirak, Imphal, at around 9:30 pm on Sunday and 12:30 am on Monday, respectively.
The two bombs did not explode. They were safely defused by the Manipur Police, police said.
Cases have been registered at Lamphel Police station, it added.
