Imphal: The Rongmei Naga Council Manipur, Ntayphay Luangrian Foothills (RNCM-NTL), has announced an indefinite total shutdown starting at midnight of Sunday.

The organization is a zonal unit of Rongmei Naga Council Manipur (RNCM).

The shutdown was announced on Saturday against ‘failure of the Manipur government to provide a positive response to the proposal for an alternative administrative arrangement for Naga tribes living in the foothills of Sadar Hills and Churachandpur’.

The indefinite total shutdown will be effective along National Highway-37 (Imphal-Silchar via Jiribam), Tongjei Maril (Old Cachar Road), and Leimatak Loktak Project Road.

However, essential services including medical emergencies (with supporting medical documents), electricity, water, education, media, and telecom will be exempted, the organization said.

It urged everyone to extend support to the indefinite total shutdown.

The Nungba Kendra Citizen Forum of Noney district requested RNCM, Imphal region, to call off the strike during these hard times faced by all communities.
