Blast kills former MLA’s wife Charubala

Imphal: Wife of former Yamthong Haokip, MLA of Saikul Assembly Constituency was killed by a blast that occurred on Saturday afternoon.

The deceased Charubala succumbed to her injuries of the bomb blast that occurred at Yamthong’s residence in E. Mulam village, Kangpokpi district, a Kuki-dominated area, on Saturday.

Charubala belongs the Meitei community.

Yamthong Haokip lodged a complaint at Saikul police station on Sunday. He said, in the complaint, an explosion occurred inside their residential compound as she was burning waste items.

She was injured and was evacuated to the primary health centre in Saikul, Kangpokpi district. She was further shifted to Kangpokpi district hospital. The hospital authority declared her dead upon arrival.

No other human casualties have been reported.

It was not certain who committed the crime till the filing of this report.
