Imphal: Manipur chief minister N. Biren Singh has appealed to ministers and MLAs to organise lunch at different relief camps on the Independence Day and have it together with the inmates.
Biren asked elected representatives to talk with the inmates to address the problems and grievances.
The chief minister was addressing at “Tiranga Concerts”, a part of Har Ghar Tiranga Campaign under the aegis of Azadi Ka Amrit Mahotsav organised by Art and Culture department at Manipur State Film Development Society Hall, here on Saturday.
He appealed to the people of the state to volunteer in cleaning the statues of the freedom fighters who had sacrificed their lives for the motherland and pay floral tribute for their sacrifices.
Initiatives like Har Ghar Tiranga campaign in the country have brought sense of nationalism, unity, and oneness among the people. He instructed the DGP for conducting a mass motor bike rally on August 15, with mass participation from the youth. He also appealed to the people of Manipur to participate in rally, street play, marathon, painting competition organised under the campaign.
“We must strengthen our nation to be self-sustain and thus will help in protecting the nation and its people. Raising concern on the current challenges face by India due to the current geopolitical scenario, he also stressed the need to make our country strong to successful tackle the challenges ahead,” the chief minister said.
Pung Cholom by the artistes of Manipur University of Culture, patriotic song by artistes of Shri Shri Bal Mukund Dev Music College and a dance choreographed on Tiranga Anthem by the Government Dance College were showcased.
The programme was attended by ministers of DGP, administrative secretaries, officials of the Art and Culture department and renowned artistes of the state.
