Imphal: The Kuki Zomi Council has declared not to send its delegation to the meeting convened by Kuki Inpi Manipur on Monday.

The council expressed its stance in a press statement released on Sunday.

It said it will support the formation of a common political front (CPF) to pursue the current political demand.

The Kuki-Zo community has been demanding a separate administration parallel to the ongoing Meitei-Kuki conflict.

The Zomi Council along with various CSOs/tribe leaders, held meetings on July 3 and 6. A consultative meeting of Zomi organizations was held on July 26, followed by a meeting of the Zomi Council/ZCSC on July 27, the statement added.

The series of meetings resolved that “Zomi Council will support the formation of a common political front (CPF) to pursue the current political demand.”

The statement such a common political front should be thoroughly discussed in the Zo United Forum. The formation should be carried out in tandem with SoO groups and the Zo ministers or MLAs, along with various CSOs/tribe bodies who are all stakeholders in the matter.
