5 KCP extortionists held

Imphal: Security forces in Manipur have apprehended five KCP Nongdrenkhomba Group along with arms and ammunition on Sunday.

“Kidnapping/ extortion attempt foiled and arrest of five members of KCP Nongdrenkhomba Group along with arms and ammunition,” Manipur Police Control Room said.

It said security forces arrested five cadres of KCP (Nongdrenkhomba).

They were Soibam Lanchanba Meitei, 25, Soibam Manoj Singh, 27, Heisnam Dipak Meitei, 39, Nameirakpam Nelson Singh, 20, and Nongthombam Leishemba, 23, from Kakching Khunou who came to kidnap one person for extortion purpose.

Two pistols, with one magazine each loaded with five live rounds, three mobile phones, three camouflage dress, and one Bolero vehicle without number plate were recovered from their possession.

A case has been registered for further investigation, the police control room said.
