Imphal: One illegal bunker was destroyed at Old Bijang in Kangpokpi district by security forces on Monday and recovered arms and ammunitions from different parts of the state as the security forces continued conducting search operations and area domination in the fringe and vulnerable areas of Manipur in wake of Manipur crisis.
“During the last 24 hours, the situation in the state was under control,” Manipur Police Control Room said on Sunday.
One MA 3 Mk II Assault Rifle with magazine and sling, one 7.62 mm SLR with magazine and sling, 10 live rounds, one single barrel rifle, one improvised pumpi, one ammunition pouch, six jacket OG colour, one pair jungle shoes were recovered from Old Bijang, Kangpokpi district.
The security forces also recovered one country made pistol, four 36 MMKI hand grenade without detonator, one Chinese hand grenade, five tube launching, one carbine with magazine with 10 live rounds, eight tear smoke shells, one smoke grenade, one Baofeng wireless set with batteries and chargers from Khoidum Mamang
Leikai area, Kakching district.
Two pumpi (local made mortars) were also recovered from ‘Kangvai’ village area, Churachandpur district.
Movement of 264 and 286 vehicles along NH-37 and NH-2 respectively with essential items has been ensured. Strict security measures are taken up in all vulnerable locations and security convoy is provided in sensitive stretches in order to ensure free and safe movement of the vehicles, the police control room said.
