Imphal: Following prolonged disturbances on the national highways by Kuki-Zo in Manipur, cooking gas supply has been tremendously decreased to almost nil in Imphal.

The price to exchange for refill a gas cylinder has mounted to Rs 2400 as against the original price of Rs 954.50 per cylinder.

It is hard to find one when even ready to get one at this price, an Imphal resident told Pothashang on Sunday.

After opening of the National Highway-37 LPG and Oil tankers have reached Imphal on Sunday afternoon.

The Economic Blockade imposed by the Kuki-Zo CSOs of Jiribam and Tamenglong aong NH-37 was called off after holding a Joint Public meeting with representatives of Tamenglong Police, Assam Rifles and CRPF, on Friday.

The tankers remained stranded in Assam since the outbreak of Meitei-Kuki clash in early June in Jiribam district of Manipur bordering Assam.

People in large number received the tankers at Khumbong Bazar in Imphal West and offered the drivers with water and eatables, and praised their valour.
