Imphal: The meeting chaired by Union Home minister Amit Shah was not for politicians and so Manipur chief minister N. Biren Singh was not invited in the high level meeting on Manipur security situation held on Monday.
This was said by Manipur Works minister K. Govindas on Wednesday while briefing to reporters here.
He said the security advisor to Manipur government Kuldiep Singh, chief secretary Vineet Joshi, and DG of Manipur Police Rajiv Singh participated in the meeting, representing Manipur government.
Kuldiep Singh is also the chairman of the Unified Command in Manipur.
Addressing concerns that not inviting Biren was an insult to the people of Manipur, Govindas stated that those who understand the history of the ongoing crisis in Manipur will comprehend the decision.
Govindas added that if a security meeting is conducted with the North Eastern Region in-charge and the DoNER minister along with other chief ministers, then Biren will surely be invited and will participate in such a meeting.
He said the state government has strong faith in the Modi government to bring peace and tranquillity back to Manipur.
To control the ongoing crisis, 55 sensitive zones have been identified, and security forces have been deployed at these sites. The security will be deployed to those sensitive zones where people have mistrusted each other, said the minister.
In Modi 3.0 government’s 100-day action plan, Manipur is at serial number 5, and the state government hopes to see a change soon, he added.
