Imphal: Democratic Students’ Alliance of Manipur (DESAM) has alleged that some people are taking up illegal business in conspiracy with some officials of the Board of Secondary Education Manipur (BoSEM).
Secretary general of DESAM, Nongthombam Thoithoiba on Thursday told reporters at its head office, here, that recently there was a rumour of recruiting staff of the board under conspiracy without proper procedure. Education minister and those concerned must be aware of the issue. “Why are they not taking any action against those corrupted officials?”
“ Why the Education minister is remaining as a silent spectator as if he is involved in the conspiracy?” He questioned.
He alleged that there is a strong suspicion that some high level authority along with the authorities of BoSEM are doing illegal business. The authorities of BoSEM who are allegedly involved in the business should be taken necessary action immediately by the authority concerned.
If not, the corpus fund of the board will be exhausted, he added.
Besides, some organisations in the name of providing assistance to the needy students are taking various text books for class I- X from BoSEM on free of cost. Interestingly they are only taking the text books which are not printed ‘not for sale’.
If an organisation gets text books on free of cost for all subjects of class I –X (200 copy each) cost around Rs 15 lakh. The cost of such text books if it is provided to such 20 organisations will cost around Rs 1.50 crore, said Thoithoiba.
The authority concerned of the board including the Education minister should resign from their respective post if they are not able to control it, he added.
They should take the matter seriously and DESAM will never compromise in bringing quality Education in the state.
