Imphal: For 2-Outer Manipur (ST) Parliamentary Constituency elections 79 state forces personnel dispersed from Imphal reached Tamenglong district, and polling officials, security personnel including CAPF and state forces have dispersed from mini secretariat, Tamenglong district headquarter.
Due to the ongoing crisis in the state, and as precautionary measures government employees from both the communities (Meitei and Kuki) are shifted to districts which are dominant of respective community.
Recently a convoy of oil tankers were ambushed at Tolen village by UKNA (Kuki militants) along Imphal-Jiribam national highway injuring two drivers and damaged five oil tankers and one LPG gas bullet tanker.
A total of 260 state forces personnel have been deployed at Tamenglong district on election duty. Out of the total strength 197 security forces personnel demonstrated a protest on Monday urging the authority concerned to utilise them at free conflict zone.
The 197 state forces personnel were still at stand-by as order from the authority concerned is yet to be issued.
Sources said, Kuki women checked security vehicles at Kotlen village, Kangpokpi district, which is along the way to Tamenglong district along Imphal-Jiribam national highway. The checking is conducted to find out Meitei among the state security forces.
Officials on duty for 14 polling stations of Tamei sub-division, 40 polling stations of Tousem sub-division division and 12 polling stations of Tamenglong AC was dispersed Wednesday from the multipurpose hall DC complex, mini secretariat Tamenglong district.
A total number of 75,438 voters (36,636 male voters and 38,782 female voters) of the two Assembly segments namely 52-Tamei/Tousem (ST) and 53-Tamenglong (ST) will vote for the 2-Outer Manipur (ST) Parliamentary Constituency. Tamenglong district has 36 numbers of female managed polling stations.
Ahead of the dispersal of the polling team, the strong room located at DC office complex was opened from 8 am onwards for dispersal of EVMs and VVPATs in the presence of AROs, nodal officers and representatives of various political parties.
Under the very heavy and bad weather conditions polling officials and security personnel, including Central Armed Police Forces and State Police for the smooth conduct of the Lok Sabha Election was dispersed from the mini secretariat Tamenglong headquarter.
