Imphal: Shiv Sena (UBT) president, Imphal East, Toijam Debananda Singh was ‘threatened by masked men warning him not to involve in Lok Sabha Elections campaign’ on Friday night.
“Since I work for Dr. Angomcha Bimol Akoijam (Congress candidate) as a constituent of INDIA Bloc, Manipur, they seem to target me. And if I continue with my work, the consequences would be solely upon me,” Debananda said in a letter written to the CEO, Manipur on Sunday.
He urged the CEO to look into the matter of threats meted out to him and his family members by some unknown masked persons who came in three numberless vehicles with sophisticated weapons to my residence at Kyamgei and asked for my where abouts.
“Since I wasn’t home at that time due to personal works, they threatened my family members and broke some signboards and banners which was put up at my office. They left after giving a stern warning that I should not get involve in the current electioneering.”
This cannot be taken lightly in view of the severity of the situation, Debananda said.
He requested to take up concrete steps so that his life would not be in danger.
