Imphal: All Manipur Meitei Pangal Club’s Organisation (AMMPACO) has demanded the state government to take stringent action under law who are involved in the brutal assault of two drivers at Moreh on Thursday.
President of AMMPACO, Hayatur Rahaman Yumkhaibam alias Akuba told reporters at its head office, Hatta, Imphal East on Friday that AMMPACO will take the incident was conducted not by Kuki volunteers but by armed Kuki militants.
He said the two individuals Md. Elaa Singamayum, son of Md. Ibungo of Kairang Chingkhong (driver) and Md. Emin, 29, son of Md. Sanaton from Kairang Chingya Leikai both from Imphal East district were just transporting construction materials for the state and central government. As a driver, they were just doing their duties. He appealed not to repeat similar incident in the near future.
“AMMPACO demands a proper investigation of the incident and to book the culprits immediately. The organisation is ready to launch various forms of agitation if the government fails to fulfill the demands,” he added.
In the present crisis in the state, Meitei Pangal and Naga have been trying to bring peace. However, both the communities are victimised sometimes, said Hayatur.
He said the government should take necessary steps to stop pointing guns at innocent people.
