Imphal: United Committee Manipur (UCM) will not tolerate if any individual found misusing the fund sanctioned for Manipur crisis displaced persons at relief camps, UCM president Joychandra cautioned.
Joychandra was attending ‘Ningtham Chara Amasung Khudol Tamba’ at UCM Langol campus with the inmates staying at Langol Relief camp on Tuesday.
Due to the present unrest in Manipur, around 60,000 people have been displaced and are staying at various relief camps and temporary pre-fabricated houses. For each displaced persons the government sanctioned a sum of Rs 115 for each day, he said.
UCM will start to find out whether the said amount provided for each displaced person is reached or not. The amount is provided by the government as a little assistance for the displaced person who have been affected due to the present crisis, he added.
He appealed the government to provide financial assistance at the earliest to the farmers whose paddy fields have been affected due to the crisis.
UCM condoled on the dead of four individuals in an incident occurred at Lilong on Monday. He clarified that the incident was not a communal incident and appealed all sections of the society not to spread rumors on social media which could lead to communal violence.
The dais members at the function distributed medicated mosquito nets to displace persons of the relief camp. The mosquito nets were donated by project co-ordinator of The New Leaf Association (NeLA), Ngangbam Robert Singh under the sponsorship of Indian Railway Catering and Tourism Corporation through the funding of Corporate Social Responsibility for the inmates at the relief camps.
