A high-power committee led by minister of irrigation and flood control department (IFCD) Letpao Haokip will soon be set up to settle the grievances of the Mapithel dam-affected people.
The decision was made today after a meeting between IFC officials and a large delegation of Mapithel Dam affected villagers chaired by Letpao Haokip at the Conference Hall of Manipur Secretariat in the presence of parliamentary secretary (PHED) and MLA of Phungyar AC, Leishiyo Keishing.
After a patient hearing to the grievances put forth by the affected village chiefs, Letpao Haokip during the meeting with the dam-affected villagers assured to bring the matter to the higher authority for prompt redressal of their grievances. Asserting that the State government would spare no efforts in redressing the genuine grievances of the dam-affected villagers, the minister sought the cooperation of the affected villagers so that the government solve the matter once and for all.
Chiefs of about 17 villages affected by the upstream and downstream of Mapithel Dam were led in today’s meeting M. Ngaranmi, co-chairman, Mapithel Dam Affected Coordination Committee (MDACC).
Secretary (IFCD) Gopen Meitei, Chief Engineer (IFCD) Ksh. Pritam Singh and other officials of IFCD were also present in the meeting.
