Imphal: Under Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s vision of “Sabka Saath, Sabka Vikas, Sabka Vishwas” the state government is working for the welfare of the people with transparency, sincerity and honesty.
Chief Minister N. Biren Singh said this at the launching programme for distribution of benefits under Economic Development Programme (EDP) and Pradhan Mantri Jan Vikas Karyakram (PMJVK) held at City Convention Centre, here on Thursday.
Poultry chicks are being distributed to 1418 beneficiaries amounting to Rs 1.13 crore, knapsack sprayers to 2544 beneficiaries amounting Rs 1.25 crore, carpentry items to 135 beneficiaries amounting to Rs 1.37 crore, fish fingerlings to 2803 beneficiaries amounting to Rs 2.8 crore and bicycles to 1277 minority girl students of Imphal East, Thoubal and Chandel amounting to Rs 57 lakhs today, Biren said.
Under PMJVK, a total of 264 projects amounting to Rs 321 crore have been completed and 318 projects amounting to Rs 704 crore have been taken up in the state. The works include construction of Model Residential schools, Sadbhavna mandaps, PHCs etc. in both hill and valley districts, he added.
The chief minister said there has been a lot of infrastructural development in the last four and half years with the support of the people. The government is trying its best to improve the rural economy of the state, he added.
Minister for information and public relations, works and RD and PR Th. Biswajit Singh said the government has implemented different welfare schemes, initiated various capacity and skill development programmes in the state.
To overcome the unemployment problem in the state, the government has implemented StartUp scheme and provided subsidized soft loans to the entrepreneurs, he added.
Manipur has huge potential in various sectors like human resource, tourism etc. The government welcomes any constructive and positive criticism for inclusive development in the state, he said.
Education minister S. Rajen Singh, advisor to CM (health) Dr Sapam Ranjan, MLAs M. Rameshwar Singh, MD. Antas Khan, chairperson, Manipur State Minorities Commission Anwar Hussain, secretary (MA & MOBC & SC) Ningthoujam Geoffrey and others attended the function.
The function was organised by the department of minority affairs, the department for welfare of OBC and SC and Manipur Minority and OBC Economic Society.
