Imphal: A team of Sangaithel outpost of Manipur Police on Friday evening recovered 1033 litres of distilled indigenous country (DIC) liquor from Sangaithel Lamkhai.
The team with the support of the representatives of local Meira paibis of Sangaithel, acting on an information, intercepted a Bolero campers bearing registration number MN 02G 0774 at Sangaithel lamkhai at round 8:30 pm which was proceedings towards Koireng road.
A huge quantity of DIC liquor were found concealed at the back side trunk of the vehicle, police said.
The individuals who possessed the liquor were Namdijinle Newme, 38, wife of Rikangbui Newme of Greenland, Tamenglong and Minah Gangmei, 36, wife of Jimrei Gangmei of sangrung village, Khangsang, Tamenglong.
The vehicle was driven by Adam Barjamtak, 29, son of Achou Barjamtak of puichi village Tamenglong .
The seized liquors were disposed at Sangaithel bazaar at around 11:30 pm in presence of local Meira Paibis of Sangaithel, a team of Patsoi police and excise station, Keithelmanbi.
The seized quantity of DIC liquors were 1520 bottles of half-litres i.e. 760 litres and 273 bottles of one litres, police said.
The apprehended individuals and the involved vehicle were handed over to Patsoi Police station for further necessary action, it added.
