Imphal: The Joint Tribe’s Students’ Association (JTSA) a conglomerate of hills students’ body demanded all the hill MLAs to resign from the member of Manipur Legislative Assembly on moral ground as all tribal and hill representatives for their mutter in connection to Hills Areas Committee (HAC) recommendations on Autonomous District Council (ADC) bill, 2021.
The student body comprises of All Inpui Students’ Union (AISU), Liangmai Naga Katimai Ruangdi (LNKR), Rongmei Naga Students’ Organisation Manipur (RNSOM) and Zeme Students’ Organisation Manipur (ZSOM).
Joint secretary, JTSA, Jeanthui Panmei told reporters here that none but the tribal MLAs possess the mandate of the hills people. However, they failed to raise their voice in support of the recommendations during the last Manipur Legislative Assembly session against non-tabling of the much awaited HAC ADC Bill, 2021.
Their silence on the issue is the cause of the present confusions amongst the hill people, he added.
In larger interest of the tribal peoples, prove their real interest, love and concern for the cause of the tribal for speedy convening of special Assembly and for successful tabling of HAC recommendations. JTSA is raising the voice and grievances of the tribal is left with no other options, therefore all the tribal MLAs must resign immediately from the member of the Manipur Legislative Assembly on moral ground, he added.
He said all ADC of hill district was dissolved against the wish of the people. Conducting recruitment in ADC to various post at the moment is questionable on a democratic institution and is totally against the interest of tribals.
The joint student body strongly oppose the move and appealed the state government to continue the recruitment only after election and formation of next ADC in all hill districts, Jeanthui said.
JTSA will initiate various form of democratic agitation if the state government failed to put on hold of the said recruitment with notification in a week, he added.
The joint student body appreciated for implementing various developmental projects but state government should complete the developmental project in a stipulated time. Various developmental projects in Tamenglong district is delayed from completion which could have been completed and handed over to the people, he said.
He appealed the chief minister that all the developmental projects should be monitored individually and under his strict supervision the pending projects should be completed in time.
In Tamenglong district multi crore water project at Carpentry had already been inaugurated during the recent visit of chief minister N. Biren Singh, he said.
He said the project was inaugurated before its completion and is reported that most of the water reservoirs are leaking, pipe are poorly laid. Such projects should be monitored closely by concerned department and if it is not working properly then inaugurating such multi crore project is useless, he added.
Jeanthui said quality and progress of Khongsang-Tamenglong road work is being checked by the student body.
The concerned authority should also monitor the same as no agencies of state government is taking initiatives to monitor the work progress, he added.
