Imphal: Manipur governor La. Ganesan and chief minister extended greeting to the people of the state on occasion of Krishna Janmashtami that falls on Monday.
The festival of Janma Ashtami (Krishna Janma) celebrates the birth of Lord Krishna and symbolises the divine richness of “Karmyoga”, the way to attain spiritual heights through a ceaseless effort to achieve excellence in one’s work, the governor said.
“Lord Krishna’s universal message, as given to us through the Bhagwat Gita, has guided us through centuries to stand firm in the fight for truth and justice against all odds. On this festive day, let us remind ourselves of the teachings of Lord Krishna and work for promotion of peace, cooperation and mutual goodwill among all sections of our diverse society,” he said.
Biren said according to the Hindu Calendar, this year’s celebration will mark the 5248th birth anniversary of Lord Krishna.
“As we celebrate this auspicious day, let us remember Lord Krishna’s message of Karmayoga which is a call to focus on our responsibilities rather than caring for rewards. This teaching is relevant to each one of us, irrespective of our profession or our standing in society,” Biren said.
He appealed to maintain Covid appropriate behaviours and avoid social gathering to protect from the Covid-19.
“May Lord Krishna bless us with good health, peace and prosperity,” Biren said.
