Imphal: Manipuri Students Federation (MSF) has appealed to the state government to conduct the entrance test for admission to higher secondary schools through online mode in view of the pandemic and to revoke the cut off marks for admission notified by schools.
The current mode of admission process will only result in gathering of the public amid the pandemic, MSF said.
The student body on Wednesday expressed disappointment over the cut off marks notified by the government higher secondary schools for students belonging to schedule tribe, schedule caste, unreserved and other backward class.
It demanded that the notification for the cut off marks must be revoked as it will be an injustice to the students securing lower marks in the recently concluded Board of Secondary Education Manipur examination.
Stating that 47,208 students were declared pass in the BOSEM 2020-21 examination, the student body said the accumulate capacity of the government schools should be increased.
In case, the government does not have enough infrastructure, arrangements can be made in other government buildings as well, it added.
The pandemic has affected many in the state. However, parents cannot stop their children from pursuing further education. They have to rely on the government schools wherein the admission charges are lesser, the student body said.
It declared that a survey will begin in the higher secondary schools on Wednesday to check the infrastructure of the schools.
