Landslide devastates shelters in Ukhrul

Following continuous heavy rainfall a landslide which occurred in Ukhrul district has shattered four houses and a newly setup playground at the middle of the Sirakhong village.
The state authorities rushed at the spot to talk stalk of the situation. So far there has been no report of human casualty. It was said there were no one inside the houses when the calamity was occurred.
With the incessant rain showering since the past week water levels in the rivers has risen and the agricultural lands in different parts of Imphal West and Imphal East have been submerged under the water.
“We have lost our hope last year too. But this time the rain is creating more havoc. We pray for a solution and hope the government helps to bring a solution”, said a farmer residing in Imphal West.
