Imphal: Manipur Police department has congratulated Indian women’s national football team forward Ngangom Bala Devi of Manipur on being named as the AIFF Women’s Footballer of the year 2020 – 21
Bala is currently playing for the Rangers FC in Scotland and has also been earlier awarded two years in a row in 2014 and 2015 for the same award, Manipur Police Sports Club (MPSC) secretary Clay Khongsai, IPS, said.
Bala is from the Manipur Police department and is a member of the MPSC.
“The Manipur Police department wishes her well in all her endeavours and hope that she will continue to inspire, motivate and encourage young women footballers of the country and the state in the days to come,” Clay said in a statement released on Friday.
The 31-year-old international women footballer is the first Indian woman footballer to sign a professional contract with an overseas club in Europe.
Bala captained India Women’s National Football Team in 2016 South Asian Football Federation Women’s Championship.
