Imphal: Kakching battalion of Assam Rifles under the aegis of IGAR (S) foiled smuggling of Win cigarettes and beetle nuts in Kakching, Manipur on Wednesday.
Based on intelligence inputs, troops of Assam Rifles intercepted two vehicles with four persons moving on Khudam – Wangukhera road.
Nearly 102 boxes of Win cigarettes and 5 bags of beetle nuts were seized from the vehicles.
“The cost of the contraband seized worth Rs 1.03 crore,” the Assam Rifles said on Thursday.
The apprehended smugglers and recovered items have been handed over to Customs department, Pallel for further legal proceedings, it added.
