Imphal: Manipur’s RK Ranjan has been sworn in as Union minister of state on Thursday.
Ranjan was among 43 ministers who sworn-in at the Rashtrapati Bhavan on Wednesday.
The new Modi Cabinet will meet at 5pm on Thursday, while the Council of ministers will meet at 7pm.
The new set of India’s Council of ministers has been chosen with the emphasis on representation, experience and education.
Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) appreciated Lok Sabha MP, Rajkumar Ranjan on his appointment as Union minister in the minister reshuffle.
Manipur BJP president A. Sarda Devi said the appointment of Ranjan as Union minister shows that BJP shows in action but not with mere words.
Three MPs were appointed from the north eastern state including Manipur during the minister reshuffle of the NDA government. The Modi-led government shows in action by appointing three ministers from the north eastern states with the notion that without the development in Northeast states the country cannot prosper, she added.
A total of seven women MPs were appointed as Union minister among the ministers sworn on Wednesday evening. The present Modi led government has been taking various initiatives to empowerment women and to promote north eastern states, Sarda said.
“It is early to announce for portfolio of union minister Rajkumar Ranjan,” she said.
