Imphal: “As a human being, extending help and serving the poor and needy people is the greatest service among all,” Manipur chief minister N. Biren Singh said at the launching function of dry ration distribution to 3000 beneficiaries of Churachandpur district.
The function was held via video conference held at chief minister’s secretariat on Wednesday.
The objective of the government is to uplift the lives of the people and has introduced various people centric welfare schemes such as CMHT, CMST etc. Under the leadership of Prime Minister Narendra Modi, the central government has implemented various schemes for needy and poor people of the country, he added.
He mentioned that Narendra Modi has successfully launched world’s largest free Covid-19 vaccination for all. He informed that the state Cabinet has decided to extend monetary support to those families affected by the pandemic. A sum of Rs 5000 would be given to around two lakh beneficiaries under the scheme, he added.
Minister for tribal affairs and hills Vungzagin Valte urged the auto drivers to get themselves vaccinated as soon as possible as they are dealing with the general public by ferrying passengers. He said a meeting will be convened regarding mass vaccination drives for the auto drivers of the district soon.
Crypto relief ration kits are being supported by Centre for Community Initiative, Highland Group, Sunbird Trust and Umeed Project. It will be distributed to villagers of Muallum and Tuithapi villages, farmers around Suangpi, Khawlmun, Ngurte, Kaihlam and G. Bualjang village, barbers, daily labourers, rickshaw pullers, autorickshaw drivers. Crypto relief ration kit includes 12 kg of rice, poha, chilli powder, dhaniya powder, cumin and sanitary pads, a government press release said.
Principal secretary V. Vumlunmang, DC Churachandpur Pawan Yadav and others attended the function.
