Imphal: Churachandpur battalion under the aegis of IGAR (South) organised a Van Mahotsav in the erstwhile poppy cultivation belt of Sangaikot, Churachandpur District on Tuesday.
With an aim to help and guide the villagers and youths in moving on from poppy cultivation, and to find an alternate means of livelihood, troops of Assam Rifles with villagers jointly planted saplings of various types of trees on the occasion.
The tree plantation was organised in collaboration with Kuki Students Organisation of Sangaikot sub-division.
