Imphal: Manipur police on Tuesday seized 604.5 litres of distilled indigenous country (DIC) liquor from various places of Imphal East and West district area.
A team of Porompat police led by its officer-in-charge, M. Binodkumar seized 150 litres of DIC liquor from Wangkhei Ayangpalli and MAhaballi area. The liquors were seized from the possession of one Loitongbam Manju Singh, 46, son of L.Modhu of Wangkhei Ayangpalli and Elvis Kamei, 20, son of Paujagai Kamei of Mahaballi.
The drive was conducted under the supervision of superintendent of police, Imphal East, N Herojit.
The two persons were detained and handed over to excise department, Lamphel along with the seizures.
A team of Patsoi police station seized 457 bottles (500 ml) including plastic sachets of DIC liquor during frisking and checking at Ngairangbam Maklang IVR at about 3.45 am on the same day.
Police said the team while conducting frisking and checking on the spot one four wheeler (Mahindra Bolero) bearing registration number MN01AG 6938 white in colour was stopped. On examination the said DIC liquors were detected from the vehicle.
One person identified as one Khwairakpam Thouba Singh, 29, of Tairenpokpi Ching Taba, who drove the vehicle was detained.
The detainee along with the seizures has been handed over to excise, Keithelmanbi.
In another police move 140 litres of DIC liquors were seized from Lambulane and North AOC area by a team of Imphal police station.
Another team of Imphal West district commando led by sub inspector B. Amarjit Singh recovered 86 litres of DIC liquors packed in 48 bottles of 1 litre and 52 bottles of 500ml from Mayaikoibi area.
The liquors were detected from one Heikrujam Sarat Singh, 52 and Chingtham Inaocha Singh, 52 of Mayaikoibi Chabungam Leikai.
The detainees and the seized liquors were handed over to excise department, Lamphel.
